Now here's a comparison that's actually worth looking at. Think you could do the same for Wii U/GCN please?

Well since you said please.

Nintendo's financial year is 1st of April to 31st March

Gamecube launch 14th September 2001

Wii U launch 18th November 2012

launch and 1st full year shipments

GC - 9.56 million over 564 days

Wii U - 6.17 million over 499 days

2nd year

GC - 5.02 million full year

Wii U - 3.03 million over 9 months

Well over 774 days the Wii U has shipped 9.2 million while in 499 days the GC shipped 9.56 million.

Thanks, much appreciated.

The 2nd years are closer than I expected. Did GCN peak that year or the third? I seem to remember GCN having a very good year in 2003 (better than XBox possibly?) and it dropped off quite badly after.

Those 2.5ish years above add up to 14.58m so it only sold an additional 7m or so from then on. Maybe Wii U has a chance of beating GCN in the 3rd year, I doubt it, but maybe.
