In my humble experience, those who sit at home playing video games are not the ones that go out on town to cause trouble, rather the other way around.
And the troublemakers I know of are certainly not from poor homes, violence is a social means of stating your position or your power over others, it has always been thus all the way back to when we could barely wield a branch and ran awkwardly because of the lack of Achilles tendon (s).
Both me and most my close friends enjoy games a lot more than most, but I can't seem to remember any of us even getting into a fight our whole lives (and I've even been a bouncer for a few years).
I know that me and my friends aren't representative of the whole world, but it kinda makes me wonder where all these overly violent videogamers are!
Lousy parenting, shoddy educational system, failure to imprint discipline from an early age because everything is illegal now in terms of disciplinary action and other factors are probably the main reasons kids get violent.
It is also worth nothing that violence among women/girls is on a rapid rise worldwide and so is the statistics of women/girls causing or being involved in traffic accidents, and as we all know; girls are statistically underrepresentated in gamer statistics.
Violence is a societal problem, there's plenty of violence in many areas of the world (west Asia and Africa spring to mind) who don't even have videogames most places to begin with.
Drawing parallel's between direct violence and videogaming am fail imo.
