But as for one thing you said: I think that the personal importance of things that happen to you depend on your personality/character, so from moment to moment you can't control the personal importance of things that happen to you (though you can control your reactions which to some extent dulls that importance [edit: or sharpens it, I had meant to make that edit but forgot about it]), but you can help determine how important past events are to you and how important future events will be to you.
