I mean, a mix of Tekken and Pokemon? This could easily interest both casual players and hardcore, competitive gamers and become a real pillar for both Nintendo and the Pokemon franchise. It's exciting, to say the least. I'm happy to see Nintendo putting so much focus on these types of games lately. |
I genuinely think it was just one guy lmao. I've literally never heard anyone ever say that Smash should be in 3D. That's like saying Street Fighter should be in 3-

...
...Anyway, I think that the fact that it's so distant from Tekken while utilizing a lot of core elements from games like that will help it's case a lot. I really think that the 2D sections more comparable to Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, as that game also has only 3 attack buttons. Also, projectiles. Lots and lots. It honestly feels more like if the Tekken guys tried to take Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat, and the tournament sections of Pokepark 2/Naruto UNS, mix them all together, and make all the fighters Pokemon. And it actually works. Like you can tell that it's made by the Tekken guys, but the 2D fighting mechanics resemble other 2D fighting games much more than Tekken. The shield, for examble, is like a combination of the shield from Smash were it gets weaker the longer you hold it, and blocking in Mortal Kombat where you can't move while you're doing it and it's a dedicated button, as opposed to being automatic by walking backwards like in other fighters.
I'm huge into Pokemon competitive battling, so it would be amazing if this game could match that feeling, but in a 3D action game. That's been my dream since I first introduced myself to Pokemon lol.
