Boyhood was stupid. It's an okay movie but it's far from Oscar-worthy. I'm baffled by its critical success and the only explanation I can come up with is that people are more impressed than they should be by the fact that it was filmed over a period of 12 years with the actors aging in real time, which I can't see as anything more than a gimmick. They could have filmed the whole thing in under a month with three different actors playing the kid at various ages and the movie would effectively be no different.

Haven't seen Selma yet so I have no comment on that.
