I'm just gonna say this, nintendo doesn't even need third-party, its first party is what's driving the system. I say after holiday 08 people are gonna see less thirdparty support for the wii which sales are not doing so well. only publishers u will see will be activision, Ea,Ubisoft, and Sega

Every time I go to the Real Canadian Superstore near my apartment I check out the game section to see what they're stocking and (on occasion) to pick up a game. One trend I have been seeing since the Wii was released is that the shelf space devoted to Wii software has steadily grown since it was released; since before Christmas last year Wii shelf space has been much larger than PS3 shelf space, and (roughly) the same as XBox 360 shelf space. Another trend that started early in 2008 is the Wii has been slowly "eating" the PS3's shelf space, and the PS3 now has only about 80% of one display rack ...

This is just one store and I can't say whether it is representative of all stores in this chain, or of retailers in general. What I can say is that third party software has been selling very well on the Wii in particular when you consider the sales of the game in relation to the quality of the game and marketing that it received.

I'd suspect this isn't a larger trend, as PS3 software sales are increasing, albeit more slowly than Wii software. The sections that should be shrinking are the areas where software sales are slowing down -- specifically PS2 and any remnants of Xbox/GC software.

I both agree and disagree ...

A big box retailer like Superstore isn't interested in how well software in general sells, they're focused on carying only software which has a high turnover rate; they're probably carying such a high selection of Wii software because they can consistently sell enough copies of a lot of games people consider "poor sellers" (like Zack and Wiki), and are eating into the PS3's space because there are less similarly steady selling PS3 titles.
