Arguably when AR is integrated into the real world it is more immersive as you don't have to try to pretend you are in a real environment as you actually are, imagine a game character sitting on the lounge next to you to interact or being able to walk around and examine the motorbike you are about to ride. VR and AR both have their markets as to which is more immersive really comes down to definition and perspective.

But the real world environment is dictated by where you are currently sat. If i am sat in my living room and you have some AR integration for say a COD game, its just not going to be as interesting or immersive as a headset where the whole world is computerised, even if the VR version has a lower res, its more immersive.

Imagine playing COD type game in real building or environment where the enemy are generated within that environment for you. Really it all comes down to perspective, both can be incredibly immersive, just in different ways.

It's one of those things that "Sounds" like its exciting, but in all reality its just not. First you have to find a building to run around in (with headgear on), and then you'll need some controller or are we just going to do the kinect pew pew pew hand signal :) VR is much better :) and in fact if you want to run around, better off buying that VT run machine thingy...
