Why did Sony make the Vita if they were planning to make a streaming service anyway?

You're asking why Sony released a handheld in 2011 when they were going to create a streaming service in 2014?

Yes. Why would Sony release a streaning service that would render the handheld obselete?

The vita remote play feature is well liked, it only adds value to the new service. And as far as vita is concerned, it's just a feature. Think about the previous generation hyped features pre-launch and their state 2 years later, a lot of them are just forgotten.

A feature lacking interest after a few years is not that bad.
