As someone that's been lucky enough to snag one of the Ambassador Bundles and has spent a couple of weeks playing around with it I can say that the New 3DS is worth every penny. Nintendo have basically fixed almost everything that was 'wrong' with the 3DS - Super Stable 3D in particular is a complete game changer, it now has a second analog stick and it now has 4 shoulder buttons. And if that wasn't enough then you've also got Xenoblade Chronicles, the best JRPG released last gen, as an exclusive in April.
