This is the sort of thing that I personally want to see from Nintendo DLC. It's new(kind of), and innovative, which is what Nintendo is known for. If they continue to price their DLC so aggresively and their games going forward, they do have the potential to reshape how the gaming industry views and treats DLC as well as games in general. Iwata and Miyamoto have both been quoted saying that they wonder if putting less money into the cinnematics of the game really effects the end result. Granted in Mario or Captain Toad or most Nintendo titles in general, this would be a great decision. But maybe, just maybe, this concept could be applied to other games from other companies as well.
I mostly just worry that Nintendo will wake up one day and decide to follow the already established model, or that one day we're going to see a situation in which we're forced to buy Amiibo. Something I personally don't agree with.
