No it's not. The car mode/linear Mario Party games sell a lot more. The logic is simple, and it's probably more financially viable than wasting resources on an additional board game mode for the three people they lost during the switch.


They (as in just MP8 really as MP9 didn't do that much better than the good Mario Partys despite massive install base advantage and less other MP games on the system) sold a lot because it was on the Wii and utilized what made the Wii so hot, Motion controls, not because of the stupid car, primarily untraditional game boards, and solitare minigames. Now that we aren't blinded by the Wii motion control hype phase, people should be able to see this game for what is!
