Everyone should hate it because it's awful and goes against what Mario Party's all about. Having all players in a car on a one-track path only makes the board game half way too plain and simple, meaning nothing really happens on it anymore. You also have pretty much no choice, options or actions you can take to affect the game. The mini-game half is also affected by how you're less likely to play mini-games to begin with, ten fold on Bowser Party, where you're actually trying to avoid playing mini-games altogether, like what lol. Was really sad how in the Treehouse demonstration they had to use the debug menu in order to keep from going a whole game without playing a single mini-game. So basically the Car mechanic simplifys Mario Party to dice rolls, more dice rolls, and maybe a mini-game here or there if you're lucky.
And no it's not getting a free pass just because it uses the gamepad.
