This whole "nothing that Nintendo does will increase sales" incorectly assumes Nintendo has done everything it can and has had no success. This is incorrect, they have actually done exactly one thing consistent right and that is software quality. Marketing has been abysmal, with it only picking up in the second half of last year and even then it wasn't spectacular. Worse, they haven't had one add campaign that is comparable to ones like "Get N or Get out," "This is for the players," "Now you're playing with power, super power," and "Wii would like to play." In fact, the Wii U has only just recently developed something resembling a cohesive image, something that is essential to doing well in any market. Addressing this one shortcoming will increase sales. And I say that as a guarantee. There are other things I could list, but this one is most obvious. I don't think it will "make a comeback" to compete with the Xbox One, but I think that it can sell much better.
