Why the Death of Nintendo Would Do Gaming Zero Favors

I agree that the death of Nintendo would do us gamers no favor.

But what is so bad about Nintendo going multiplat, like Sega?

How would going third party net them less cash when everyone can buy their games?

Just an example, let's say by end of this Gen, XB1 = 60m, PS4 = 100m. If dropped the Wii U prematurely and go 3rd party, that's 160m potential sales, not even counting PC gamers. Compare that to, maybe, 40m Wii U's by Gen's end? 

I'm not saying that they should go multiplat, but it's definitely better than totally going out of the video game business.

I know I'd miss Nintendo games, but I can move on with or without Nintendo.
