Yeah exactly. Smartphones/tablets are simply the perfect consumer device for casual gaming far moreso than even the Wii or Kinect (platforms anchored to the living room) could ever dream of being. Cheap, incredibly simple to pick up and play arcadey/retro style games, portable, and of course with all the other functionality that casuals are more interested in to boot (Facebook, Twitter, Instragram web browsing, email, texting, music, etc. etc.). There's no woman who take a Wii or Kinect over an iPad, and women were really a big part of the Wii's initial success. Apple completely took that away. |
Indeed, after moving to a big city, I'm quite simply astounded by how big mobile gaming has become, on the subway especially and in cafe's, even restaurants and sometimes even in nightclubs when guests are bored. The smart devices have invaded this market and they are not giving them up, and even if there was a way; the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U are most certainly not the tools to do the trick.
