The problem was that most of them weren't good points when several counterexamples were shown to you. We weren't being defensive, but rather corrective. It is important to give credit for the right reasons. Was Microsoft innovative? No. Did Microsoft popularize the innovations made by other companies? Yes. Is it really a bad thing that MS didn't come up with those ideas first? Definitely not.

If I went up to a random person in the middle of the street, and showed them achievements/gamerscore, then showed them that weird Atari "achievement" patches, they would not think it's the same thing because it's not. Once again, it's like saying the home computer isn't innovative cause we had typewriters.
Before the Xbox 360, there was never an achievement system integral to the system. What you guys were mentioning was even a third party thing anyway!

The patches and achievments have the same goal: to reward gamers for making certain accomplishments when playing a game. Heck, the patches are actually of value while achievements are, well, just there...

The typewriter and Microsoft word have the same goal, but are you saying Word (or whatever word processor before it) wasn't innovative?
Really reaching here. Show me something substantial. Not something where you take pictures of your TV and send a letter in lol. It needs to be an integral part of the console, work for MOST games, adds to your ENTIRE total of those games, and can be shown to other people in the system./
