I guess locking is the only possibility going by how much people care and are emotionally invested by this topic.

Which actually proves my original point. Not locking the thread, but when you bring up good points about Microsoft people tend to care more and get more defensive. First thing I said in this thread.

The problem was that most of them weren't good points when several counterexamples were shown to you. We weren't being defensive, but rather corrective. It is important to give credit for the right reasons. Was Microsoft innovative? No. Did Microsoft popularize the innovations made by other companies? Yes. Is it really a bad thing that MS didn't come up with those ideas first? Definitely not.

If I went up to a random person in the middle of the street, and showed them achievements/gamerscore, then showed them that weird Atari "achievement" patches, they would not think it's the same thing because it's not. Once again, it's like saying the home computer isn't innovative cause we had typewriters.

Before the Xbox 360, there was never an achievement system integral to the system. What you guys were mentioning was even a third party thing anyway!
