I think it's down to production costs. As such, I think the face tracking 3D will stay and will look great on an HD handheld. The gamepad though...not so sure. It has to be paired up with a more expensive console unit. I think the gamepad concept has a lot of potential with a redesign, but I think that it will just be too impractical to keep.
