Was Bayonetta 2 Nintendo's answer to God Of War?

To be fair, I'm writing it off for both Ascension and 3, and don't people consider 3 to be one of the better entries? 

And yes, I've heard particularly bad things about 2 (and 4, but that's a different can of worms) so if I ever decide to try it out I'm sticking with 1 and 3, lol.

Its never wise to judge a trilogy by how it ends (unless you've seen the beginning), let alone a side quest.
