That doesn't make the story any better, it just dissolves into murder murder murder blood blood rage after the first game...I've heard more people laughing at how ridiculously caricatured Kratos is than people actually praising the story. Its just a messy excuse for cool setpieces...

GoW doesn't pretend to be a masterpiece of story-telling, it knows what it is and people it for what it is. The story is good, I wouldn't call it great or amazing, but it holds up well. Bayonetta's story isn't any better, or DmC's for that matter (The reboot, not sure about the other ones)
