The rumor most compelling was some chip company saying they had a graphics chip release/announcing for a game console in 2016. While we have no idea what console it is or even if it's Nintendo. There does seem like a strong case. While I don't think we will see a Nintendo system launch until 2017. It maybe a bit concerning. But from what Nintendo has been saying about there new console, sounds a bit like they are still in the planning stage of it. But there really is no way to know. But, I will stick to that I think we will get the next handheld and main console in 2017.

That "chip company" is none other than AMD.
