They're done with dual screens I think. It made sense in 2004 when having one large touch panel was too expensive, it doesn't make sense anymore.

Even kids think that layout is dated as they've all moved on to tablets. It's just a waste of battery life/hardware cost nowadays to have a secondary screen that 90% of the games only use as an inventory/map screen. 

I wouldn't be so sure that $200 is the max either for the handheld. It might actually cost more than the "console" version, just like Vita costs more than the Vita TV (Playstation TV). Maybe $220 for the handheld to start with, $200 for the console variant to start with, both scaling down in cost over time.
