He's asking because a lot of countries still use the European number naming system, where the Billion is a million millions, and the American Billion is a Milliard.

Thanks for letting me know this. The American eductation systems wins again ::shrugs::. 

The American numbering system is pretty much the more used one these days. Rarely do you see people saying Milliard or Billiard (Well, besides the Pool game :P)

In Iceland we do exactly that (milljarður=1000 millions and billjarður=1000 milljarðar)
