Well, its just the whole "I already know whats going to happen so I don't really care about it the second time around" sorta deal. Its kind of like watching a movie as an example cause if you already watched the movie for free, why would you go out and buy it on bluray? You already know the plot and everything thats going to happen so why bother? Its similar logic when it comes to various single player "LPs"/games but to a bit lesser degree cause games give you a way to interact with it as well as providing you with a bit of a different experience in your playthrough but imo, for a lot of the single player games, the experience won't be different enough in order to get the most amount of value for that $60. A game is at its finest is when its new and spoiler free and the game is at its weakest when you already know everything about it.

And don't get me wrong, I am not saying we should ban LPs and LPs are the worst thing to happen since animal porn cause I am not trying to say that at all. I enjoy watching LPs from people like SShopkc from the games I have already played and he is a very entertaining and honest person. But what I am saying is that LPs should quit whining about companies when stuff like this happens and they should adapt (by doing royalty-free music) and/or understand that mistakes happen instead of trying to act like they are doing the companies a favor cause without the companies' content, what they do is meaningless and no one would care about them.

Yes, you do have the "core" that always watch a channels video no matter what they upload but imo, those are the minority in the case of Most LPs. Most people are drawn to the game rather than the person that plays them but granted that it is a bonus if your favorite LP does play it. Its like when Sshopkc was playing D4 and I don't really care about that game so I didn't bother watching it but when he uploaded Mario Kart 8, I was like fuck yea I will watch that shit.

I personally think of gameplay videos akin to watching a video of a person driving a car I like. Sure I'd find out everything that's in the car and my experience in the car will be very similar to the other person's, but that wouldn't stop me from wanting to drive it. In fact I'd just want it even more because ultimately driving is an interactive experience and the fun of it comes from doing it yourself, not watching someone else do it, even if you're both doing the same thing. But I guess we'll just have to respectfully agree to disagree on this matter because both of us are using anecdotal evidence to prove whether LPs are harmful/helpful to a game's sales. Without any kind of hard numbers either hypothesis would be hard to prove and getting any kind of numbers on this matter would be very difficult.

Back to the two games that Joe mentioned in the video, SSBB and Mario Kart, neither have any substantial story mode. Both of them are very MP focused "social experiences", as you called them, and even you agreed that these benefit from LPs. I don't see how sharing races/matches from those games could be harmful in any way, and again as you yourself mentioned, your experience is vastly different every time you play against different people online or offline. So Nintendo should have no reason to strike any of those videos down. It really is free advertisement at this point, especially to over a million people that are subbed to Joe.

On your other point, I frikkin flipped out when ProJared started doing Nuzlockes of various Pokemon games too. I don't watch many of his other LPs, but I love those Nuzlockes so much...just to see his reaction when any of his pokemon bites the dust. I'm evil like that lololololol.
