San Bernardino Arroyo Valley High School in California suspended girls basketball coach Michael Anderson for two games after his team defeated Bloomington (Calif.) High School 161-2, the Press Enterprise reports.

Bloomington coach Dale Chung said after the game that Arroyo Valley played full-court press for the entire first half before heading into halftime up 104-1, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports. "People shouldn't feel sorry for my team," Chung said. "They should feel sorry for his team, which isn't learning the game the right way."

The fourth quarter was played with a running clock, and Anderson lobbied to implement a running clock in the third quarter as well but was denied by officials.

"I didn't play any starters in the second half," Anderson said. "I didn't expect them (Bloomington) to be that bad. I'm not trying to embarrass anybody. And I didn't expect my bench to play that well. I had one (bench) player make eight of nine threes."

Anderson added that if he could go back, he wouldn't have played his starters after the first quarter, but if he could do it all over again, "I wouldn't play the game at all."

"I've known him for about seven years ... He's a great X's and O's coach. Ethically? Not so much," Chung said. "He knows what he did was wrong."

Anderson missed Arroyo Valley's 80-19 win Wednesday and will also miss Friday's game before returning for the school's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event Monday. Anderson's son Nicholas coached the team in his father's absence Wednesday.
