Nintendo is edging towards dropping support for the Wii U. You can tell by the lack of big or even relevant announcements for it. Tis a shame.

Wow.... how sadly misinformed you are... the lack of big or relevant announcements isn't because Nintendo dropping support it's simply mean that there no major release on WiiU in the near future... Nintendo Direct are not yearly event their purpose is to entice customer to people up Nintendo product now and in coming months.... Today’s Nintendo Direct focus was on the NEW 3ds XL in NA and Europe, selling Amiibo with Mario Party 10/Smash Bros, focus on game releasing soon. The WiiU did get major announcement in Wii disc game now available digitally. Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime Trilogy & Punch Out are major title to be made available to anyone that might have missed them. I think we will have to wait till the next Nintendo Direct for WiiU focus. Mario Maker and Yoshi’s Wooly world are schedule to release in the first half of 2015. Expect a direct in March 2015 to cover more WiiU news.

Nintendo main focus right now is selling the NEW 3DS. Which explain the lack of WiiU news.

So much this.

You can't expect the company to sell a product if they ignore it. They have to convince people of why upgrading to N3DS is a good idea. Besides, they just FOCUSED on the N3DS, they didn't talk ONLY about the N3DS, I'm sure we will get much more news on Wii U later on, but for now they are doing the right thing by focusing on their to-be-released product.
