That's a better comparison, but it still has the problem of price point. A controller is going to be at least $20, and used would likley be a minimum of $10, while the equivalent for a 3DS adapter would be $2.
edit: After seeing the reply, I realized that you were talking about Xbox controller chargers. I honestly didn't even think about that since I still think about controllers as being wired most of the time.
