As for XB1, I have no doubt in my mind that we will see an official XB1 price drop to $300 this year. What remains to be seen is just how aggressive MS will get. They could very well offer bf deals with either halo or tomb raider bundled in at that price point. As for the PS4, its anyone's guess if they would drop the price this year. But when they do I expect it to be a drop to $300. I am beginning to suspect that what we will get this year are just bundles at $400 though like we did last year. So I expect we will see an uncharted bundle at $400 this holiday season. They are already doing this with the current TLoU bundle. But if Sony really wants to go for the jugular, then they will also drop to $300 this year. Just don't see it happening unless sales during the year starts tracking behind last year sales. Technically, that's the only business marker that your product needs a price drop. They wouldn't just drop the price to outsell ms more than they already are. |
Personally, I don't think SCEA is really all that worried about getting involved in a price war, and instead are focusing on profit. At least that seems the case considering they didn't match the XBO price cut, while SCEE did. That's why I think Sony is only going to cut the NA price to $349 this year. Not entirely sure MS really wants to incur the kinda losses they did last year, just to make up a few 100Ks in just one territory, and cut to $299. Have to wait and see.
