Like others have said, Nintendo protected profits when they knew that price wouldn't have helped with both the PS4 and XB1 going into overdrive to market the shit out of their consoles for the last 12 weeks.
I would expect a price drop at a time when their is little that the competition is doing. That along with a reasonable marketing push with a release of one of their games to add to the fire.
Will it "turn the tide"? Probably for 4-6 weeks. Then it might help the system to not drop like a rock in sales on a consistent basis. They need to do it soon, as I think M$ will be doing some things by mid February or early March too.
It is near the end of the end....
