Its Nintendo's job to sell 3rd parties on their console. Being underpowered, harder to port to and having rubbish sales isnt going to sell anyone on developing for WiiU.

Ironically, this is a result of Nintendo doing what everyone said Nintendo should be doing. If they had just gone the way they did with Wii, I doubt we'd be discussing about the lack of game releases.

Did everyone say Nintendo should not try to get 3rd parties and did everyone say they should release an underpowered (compared to PS4X1) console with a tablet controller? I must've missed the memo

I believe Wii U launched with more 3rd party games than PS4 or Xbone.

What the talking heads were saying was to release "an upgraded Wii". Besides the reason why the third parties aren't there is the lackluster sales of Wii U, that's what we can blame Nintendo for.
