In terms of storytelling its a massive leap indeed and it has nearly flawless gameplay. But I can't think of a single way it changed anything in its genre. Yeah this may be Oscar level stuff for some but that wouldn't be due to it being revolutinary.

Have to agree, there's really nothing particularly original about TLOU. What makes it such an incredible game is how it uses all those unoriginal ideas to create something of a quality we rarely get to enjoy. It deserves a lot of credit and praise for that (and gets it :p), but i'd never call it revolutionary. I don't personally see that as a bad thing either.
