People want companies to die because they are vehemently opposed to that company's business practices or strategy. They don't see themselves as sadists; they simply believe that they want companies to reap whay they sow and get their just desserts. These individuals want NIntendo to die because they think Nintendo is deserving of such a fate and know that bankruptcy doesn't mean that their properties become null and void. It usually means they're sold off to the highest bidder. In other words, they want Nintendo to shut down, quit their jobs, and hand over their franchises into what are supposedly better hands. It's quite arrogant of you to assert with such confidence that going third party is for Nintendo's own good. I'm a Playstation fan, but I'll be the devil's advocate here. What if I said it would be for Sony's own good to end Playstation and put Uncharted, God of War, etc. on PC ? The Playstation division right now is mainly able to make money on some software profits and user fees. They might actually be able to make more money if cut all the costs they incur making hardware and just make games for PC. Hell, I could even say it would for your own good to quit PS and rake in the "massive" benefits gaming on PC. But that would be fair, wouldn't it? |
It not about arrogance. Sony's games are bought by the hardcore, those aren't crazy about mobile gaming, they often complain the PS4 isn't powerful enough for example! Nitendo's IP's however are much more appealing to the crowd playing on mobile devices, just watch their presence in Japan and notice how crazy Japan is about mobile gaming. Also Sony earns much more from sales of third party developers on their consoles, while Nintendo mostly sells their own software making the need for an inhouse platform much smaller.
