If Wii U and 3Ds were the last nintendo consoles, Nintendo would be doing the smart thing.
Agree with OP.
Is not if nintendo can't continue making money with their own consoles. Is what business strategy will make them the more money.
Nintendo know how to make good games and build franchises. But they need to improve their brand or else they will lose the new generation, and lose oportunity of make 10 times more money going 3rd party.
