IDK, I had a lot of problems with the film. The writing was clever and the acting was fantastic. But I just didn't like how they portrayed music. The story about Charlie Parker isn't accurate, there was nothing thrown at him that was meant to cause injury.

My main problem was why they thought to show Andrew practicing until his fingers bleed? Practice doesn't make perfect, it's being proven. Instead they could have shown him grow as a musician actually playing music with his fellow musicians in places and learning together. Or heck even studying some music theory. Instead we get the assumption that the musician’s life is about pure competitive ambition. While obviously a career in the music business is really competitive, they could have portrayed it a lot better.

I overall thought the film was enjoyable to watch, but from someone from a music background I just didn't like how they portrayed a musicians life.
