I remember really hating 1997. If i remember correctly Goldeneye came out really early in the year i bought it day 1, loved it obviously but after that it was bad. I hated Nintendo for making Diddy Kong Racing their big game for the holiday season. I actually bought all but one of those games in 1997 on that list but the list just doesn't show what kind of huge gaps between releases there were and the lack of good 3rd party support.
I gotta add here, 1997 was the year the playstation proved itself to me and I was jealous of my friends that had it. I purchased it in 1998, i had previously only owned NES, SNES, and N64 so it was a big step. The N64 lineup looks good after the fact when you look at it on paper, but not as a kid waiting for these games to be released.
