It wouldn't be Iron Man 3 or Captain America 2 if they all popped in and out, it would be Marvel Team Up 7.
Besides, what if Thor was busy that weekend that Iron Man got into trouble? He was probably off somewhere fighting giant cats. Errybody gotsta handle their own bidness.
Anyway, the connectedness is coming. Big purple guy wants to annihilate all life in the universe. That will probably get everyone together.
