If MS just released the original Kinect (with a little upgraded hardware as not to cost so much) with the Xbox One and released the games for it (like Dance Central, Kinect Sports and all that) do you think it could have been a bigger success? I don't think it would have mainly because by 2013 motion control hype was pretty much over with. It may have captured some of the casual crowd with a fitness type game or something but I doubt it would have sold much. |
The Kinect would not have been recieved better. It actually would've sold less coupled with the Xbox One. It rode off of the hype from the fad that was the WIi. It became a fad itself and no one cared about the other iterations.
The Kinect technology existed before it became the Kinect, and Microsoft got sloppy seconds. They had no tech and didnt know what it was all about not how to control it. Sony knew full well from creating the eyetoy of the potential of the Kinect, hence why they turned it down and worked on peripherals with the move. The Kinect is a good media center controller though. Pretty decent. I unplugged mine and i'm glad they dropped the kinect and made the Kinect bundle optional. If they need to want to make people believe in the Kinect they need to make their gamers believe it can control games properly and accurately or else its just a fad that they are forcing down peoples throats.
