And don't forget about the hybrid cars, which still has the problem for being dependant on gasoline because the battery won't last much. Some vehicles, like the McLaren P1, can recharge the electric motor with the energy produced by braking, but even that sounds silly. That car needs to complement both power sources because the electric motor is not enough. It will take years before we see a capable battery that will push a car thousands and thousands of miles.
