Something doesn't add up...

Geoff Keighley said "Sony has announced 18.5M PS4s sold through worldwide to date, including over 4.1M between 11/23-1/4".

Reuters said "sales of its PlayStation 4 video game consoles exceeded 18.5 million units as of Jan. 4, up from 13.5 million at the end of October".

That means from November 1 to November 22, they only sold 0.9 million (18.5M - 4.1M - 13.5M), or 300k per week? That sounds too low for November. November numbers are usually 1.5x October numbers, and not 1.0x October numbers.

I think we'll have to wait for the end of the quarter financials to know for certain.

you are confusing yourself.

As at gamescon in august, Sony announced it had SOLD TO CONSUMERS 10M PS4s.

in their October financial report they revealed they had SHIPPED 13.5M PS4s as of the end of September from when the PS4 was launched. So no one knows how many PS4s were sold of that 13.5M but we at least know they were more than 10M.

Now they have announced that they have SOLD TO CONSUMERS 18.5M PS4s as at January 4th 2015. we have no idea how many consoles have been shipped now, it could be 20M or even 21M. What we do know is that from august 2014 to January 4th 2015 they sold to consumers, 8.5M PS4ss

10M (from august announcement) + 8.5M (from today's announcememt) = 18.5

Now 4.1M of that 8M sales happened between November 23rd 2014 and 4th of January 2015.
