You're right. We don't need Diddy Kong Racing or F-Zero. We already have Mario Kart 8 and Sonic. We don't need Metroid because we already have a buttload of Metroidvania games on U. We don't need a survival horror game; we already have Zombi U and Fatal Frame. We don't need adventure games because we have Zelda and Xenoblade X. We don't need action games because we have Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third. We don't need shooters because we have WatchDogs and Call of Duty Ghosts. I have seen the light.

If you can't see how any of that is flawed, then the discussion cannot go any further. And by the way, DKCTF sold more than any dark and brooding game on the Wii U counting the mainstream Call of Duty (on Wii U). It would make much more sense to make DKR2 so it can ride off of the success of MK8 especially if it has amiibo support. It's been done on the 64; I don't see why they can't try again. It's the type of game that will appeal to the casual gamer and even the non-insecure hardcore gamer from the 64 era. You can argue about how it's a different market now, but I don't see the harm in trying. You keep saying they need to appeal to the other crowd because the market says so, but I have already given you irrefutable proof that type of method doesn't work for Nintendo.

There isn't much to be said. All in all, this whole affair was silly to begin with because the game probably doesn't even exist.
