Not weaker, but not significantly more powerful. Nintendo have never been known to persue outright power, not since the SNES at least. Just my opinion.

They must be learning from their mistakes with the Wii U, its evidence enough that they are having a need to make a new console in the first place (if the rumors of a 2016 release are to be believed.) I would think that they would focus on power to gain 3rd party dev support.
