Baroque and Obsecure the Aftermath
Obsecure is sure to be a game I will only play with another person on player 2, its clunky the humor is the kind where you say " Haha am so glad i didnt pay full price for this ". The controls are all be it pretty good for a RE like game. The combat is great, I have not yet missed well shootin my charecters gun, althought am pretty sure I have hit my GF's charecter more then the bad guys. The scare factor is kind of there, you wont be ready to be afraid when you should be, only by virtue that you will be laughing at what has recenlty happened.
Overall if your a gamer with a buddie to play a game with every so often this game is great. If you soloest gamer and are looking for a RE4 like experience, go buy another copy of RE4.
The way I rate games is merely on primary factor, this game primary factor is fun This game with Alchol is an easy 7/10 without alchol it falls to a 6/10. Most of this games humor is college, it does help to be drunk.
Baroque had low expectations for me to meet, I wanted a good time filler that was not WoW/FFXI and it has been doin its job. The controls take a bit to get used having "B" as the attack button and not "A" kept messin with my mind early on, and the fact that "A" was a menu button didnt calm my frustrations. Movment and menu navagation along with attacking once you seperate "A" from "B" is very fluid....
That leads me to the combat system, which for future warning I assume I havent seen the full extent of. Attacking is simple you press "B" 3 times for your combo in hand to hand mode and one handed swords. Larger swords only have a 2 hit combo. If you played PSO ( Phantasy Star Online) then you already know exactly how the comabt works. The place where the game really shines in combat is the spooniness of your items. There still are your standerd potions that restore health and VIT ( VIT is like Mana, I think....) Where things really get instresting is the random things you will have to eat when your out of potions and your VIT or HP is low, they range from Slime to Bones. You can eat the rocks you find, but I only keep chipping my teeth :-20 hp: :'(. Another sweet perk of the random items is the random magic items you find. Let me paint you a picture of how my first run in with magic items went.
I found one Item the did major damage to an area around me, then I found another item that teleported all the enemies and items on the current floor to my current room. I thought to myself " Am soooo clever ^^", so I sorted through my inventory reorganized it so I could get to the AoE item faster, then poped my Teleenemiethingymabob and got ready to use my Aoe when this message hit my screen.
" Lightning coin has been stolen " Gameover follwed shortly by angry shouts of imginary lag >.>
Now for a break down of the story, so far it goes like this. Oh did I forget to mention the main charecter has yet to be given any background story, and is a mute : / Anyway, it goes like this
Angel guy :" Have this gun with 5 shots, and head for that tower"
Thats about all the dialog I have found except for some random ghosts around the tower that say things that do not make any sense.
All and all I knew what I had coming buying this game. Am I dissapointed? Heck no! This game has everything I wanted in it, a good system that can have a large amount of random factors. This will lead to some good replay value and overall I might even figure out what the hell is going on in the game ^^
How I rate RPGS is pretty much on a scale of Suck to Awsome, I put this game at "Not To Shabby".
$98.22 spent and I dont regret more then 30$ of it xD
