I don't see how. Why is that wrong, but a dark and brooding game is okay? Their is alot of those type of games in the world and not just on this system. A kart racer is like finding a needle in haystack in the overall gaming market. Two kart racers is too much, but a dark action, fps, etc. is okay in an industry filled with them? Wii U has more games like that more than Kart racers.
@Curl 6 ''backlash we already saw over Tropical Freeze, their image would suffer quite a bit more from committing Retro to Diddy Kong Racing.'' That is my problem. Let's say I worked at a game studio, and we are all wanting to develop this one game. We are very passionate about it. However, gamers are desperately wanting something different or, in case of Metroid, a project we've already done before. Are we going to choose to do something that we're passionate about, or do we make a game that everbody else want us to make? It would be smart to do the latter from a business stand point, but we have already set our ambitions to something we, the studio, want to make. Do we give up and be force to make a game that we don't really care about? Creative freedom, or supply and demand? May I remind you guys that we are a very vocal minority so our demands isn't very high like some might have you to believe.
This is hypothetical situation, of course. We don't know how much freedom Retro has, but the point still stands. I know you are thinking what is best for the company, but it is all a matter of conjecture.
