Mario Kart 8 already has the gravity mechanic. F-Zero is still special outside of that, but so is Diddy Kong. DKR added an adventure mode, different type of vehicles (sonic added that feature), and boss battles. 2 special mechanics that hasn't been done before in MK8 or Sonic. Sure Diddy is cute, but that is just an aesthetic complaint. There is more to it than just a generic adorable kart racer. Who's to say Retro can't add more to this game and make it their own like DKC?
Bioshock had backtracking, granted it blocked you off in some areas once you progressed at around the middle or the end of the game. Batman, while it maybe third person, it is still a Metroidvania 3D game sort of like Prime with obvious difference in mechanics. Rayman is a triple A platformer which is why I compared it to DKC. 2D platformers are sadly a dying breed nowadays just like 3D platformers and Kart racers.
All in all, it is silly to say its a waste especially when the game doesn't even exist. It is like giving out a guilty verdict for a crime that hasn't even been committed. Hell, Diddy could even be a blessing in disguise like DKCTF was for most people. Sure, the Wii U might have alot of platformers or ''cute'' games, but considering the other platforms have blood and guts, sex, dark and grey environments, violence, movies in disguise, etc. the Wii U is a much change of pace. I am not saying the Wii U shouldn't have those games (I am all for it), but if the purpose for having these types of games is to attract the dude bro crowd then I believe the U is beyond saving by them at this point.
Look on the ''dark'' side (see what I did there). The Wii U has Bayonetta 2, Call of Duty, Fatal Frame ( localize it Nintendo), Ninja Gaiden 3, WatchDogs, Zombie U, and the upcoming Devil's Third. Honestly, no need for any more of those games, tsk tsk.
