The game is designed to be pick up and play, such that anyone can pick up the game and get a level of satisfaction, many people never go passed this.

This is just a random dude on Youtube, I don't even know if he'd be considered that good amongst those in the know.

OT: Use of the word abomination is complete hyperbole.  The game has some things YOU don't like.

Button mashing is more likely to get you somewhere in traditional fighters, as i've always said. Moves in Smash are a one-off thing, so running around and hitting whatever is unlikely to get you much, whereas there's a chance that you stumble onto an ultimate combo or something just by going crazy on the buttons in, say, Street Fighter.
