And they have thrown a lot of money at the x1. There is a limit of how much they can spend. 

 

Right now they aren't concerned about fighting the PS4, they can't win and make money. They are more concerned about improving they're sales. Price drop has given great momentum that will improve sales throughout the year. Although sales will decrease a lot from January, they will be in better shape going into next holiday where they will be in a better position to take on ps4. Plus they have Halo and they might be able to drop price and not lose money.
