I was the same way, I was definitely not interested in a hack n slash button masher. The stories for each battle are pretty awesome.
Seeing the original NES Zelda title in HD was awesome. I love the fact that I can play a Zelda game locally with my wife, she's as obsessed with playing it as I am. We have nightly zelda gaming sessions, at least when our 4 month old isn't screaming her head off. =P
