Prediction: Metroid is getting the same treatment Smash Bros got. Two games, operating as counterparts, one for Wii U and one for New 3DS.

I say New 3DS because what better way to announce the Europe/NA New 3DS release than to announce it with a surprise Metroid exclusive? And Metroid is a natural choice for such exclusivity, as it's a franchise that appeals to serious gamers who are likely to spend the money on a New 3DS, the increased power would enable an improved atmosphere, the potential for Amiibo support is certainly there, and the extra buttons and nub will make for a much easier control scheme.
