Now that you see that the West has more variety, you bring up the more than 1 country argument? As for the proof, just look at the list of games. 

list of games japanese have released for the next gen systems in the last time: Knack, evil within, mgs 5 ground zeroes, d4, final fantasy 14, guilty gear, kingdom hearts, bayonetta, resident evil revelation 2, other jrpgs, mousous + various  nintendo games. This is not variation? 

And yes 1 country argument counts, if you have more countries you have more variations.
