There certainly used to be a lot more magic in Nintendo than there is now. Nintendo Power and World of Nintendo were two examples of things that really added to the "Nintendo magic" back in the day. It also helped that everything was coming from Japan which as a kid seemed like the future.
Reggie Fils-Aime has done such a poor job of building some of the magic and hype around Wii U. I can't imagine what's keeping him employed at this point. I watched the last Nintendo Direct event and it was terrible and lifeless. Watch an Apple event or read Console Wars NOA and learn how to sell products again. The Wii U deserves a lot more success than 8.2m units sold based on the quality of games.
